A bit about me...
I have loved drawing and painting ever since the first time I picked up a pencil. As a child, I would sit happily for hours on end, creating scenes from my imagination, often very complex scenarios with dialogue and lots of interaction and emotion between the characters I had created... I think perhaps Freud would have been a fan! I made my first book at about the age of 5 about a small dog... I just loved everything to do with art.
My mother was an art teacher and I knew one day I would follow in her footsteps. Like her, I attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. It was the best time of my life - being creative all day every day was heaven on earth. When it came to the time to decide on one specialist subject area, I could simply not decide.
As I had always loved writing nearly as much as drawing, my instinct was to specialise in Illustration.
But as an avid fashion fan the temptation of Textiles was all too much! Not to mention my love of Fine Art and Photography also - so I ended up doing them all!
I studied Printed Textiles for 2 years, then Fine Art for 1 year and finally Illustration in my final year, resulting in a BA Hons Illustration.
To this day I am no more decisive! I currently teach English, after having began a PGCE teaching secondary Art. But my spare time (when I get it!) is my art time... jewellery making, story writing, painting, mixed media, illustration, creating song lyrics and poetry are just some of the things I wish I had more time for!
My recent artistic adventures have included commissions for the cover of an author's book, a family portrait, and 2 music projects for a CD cover and booklets. All these and more can be viewed in the galleries.
